"Warning From The Future"

Before the lights come up, a voice starts to announce the next story, but the voice is interrupted by an ACTOR who runs onto the stage.

                                                            ACTOR
                                    Stop! I'm a visitor from the future! I've
                                    come to warn you...

The Voice that has been announcing the titles of the stories interrupts the Actor.

VOICE
No you're not.

                                                            ACTOR
                                    Yes I am! I'm a visitor from the future! I've
                                    come to warn you...

                                                            VOICE
                                    You're not a visitor from the future. You're
                                    _______________ [the Voice names the
                                    performer playing the role of actor]. You're
                                    in the cast!

                                                            ACTOR
                                    I'm a visitor from the future who has taken
                                    over the body of ______________ [the
                                    Actor gives his real name], in order to
                                    warn you. You must not perform the next
                                    story.

VOICE
Why not?

                                                            ACTOR
                                    It's about time travel, and it comes close to
                                    revealing the actual method for traveling in
                                    time. If you perform that story, a member of
                                    this audience will be inspired to go back in
                                    time and alter history, dooming all mankind.

VOICE
But the next story isn't about time travel!

ACTOR
It isn't?

                                                            VOICE
                                    No, it's about ___________________.
                                    [The Voice gives a very brief description of
                                    the general subject matter of the next story,
                                    without giving away any surprises.]

                                                            ACTOR
                                    Is this Science Fiction Countdown
                                    Theater?

                                                            VOICE
                                    No, this is Science Fiction Blast-Off
                                    Theatre.

                                                            ACTOR
                                    Oh. I'm sorry. I must have transported back to
                                    the wrong alternate reality. Never mind.
                                    Go on with the show.

The Actor exits.

VOICE
Thank you.

The Voice proceeds with the title of the next story....
